Bewwip - Eigengrau

Review

Bewwip comes through with his second release on the label Analogical force with the EP Eigengrau - six tracks of delicious futuristic braindance. Eigengrau refers to the uniform dark grey background that many people report seeing in the absence of light. That description is fitting to the dark electro contained within this ep, with fast paced breaks, deep acid baselines blips and bloops, these tracks keep you waiting on what weird surprise you are in for next.

CVXZDVC starts off the ep with bouncing yet dark melodies, drill and bass percussion, and deep detuned melodies. Next up comes waking up on 76, with stuttering mechanical textures setting the scene, then descending into very squarepusher-esque jazzy melodies that continue to build in intensity and layers. 4FFF 3 takes a trip to the weirder side, with chaotic energy driving experimental blips and glitches, an organised type of chaos.

QBB falreup, a personal favourite is up next, giving your brain a chance to relax with this slower paced, deep and detuned track. The melody stumbles along almost as if it’s drunk, but a happy kind of drunk, the lush lads swell and sound like a forgotten memory. the track Sq1 (AF mix) brings back the energy with twinkling boppy melody.

Finishing up this ep is the track Rns2db0, this braindance masterpiece from another world starts with chaotic idm beats, intertwined 303s and unpredictable acid squelches that then give way for an eerie sci fi soundscape in addition to glitched out breakcore and futuristic textures. To all our alien and interdimensional listeners this is the perfect EP for you.
